Ok i have been having this problem since i was young, it wasnt a problem intill recently. I have african american hair, so it is best for me to wash it every 2-3 weeks (i can go longer if my hair doesnt itch) lately i just HAVE to wash it every 5 days!

my scalp itches and bleeds, and sheds alot! my mother said when she was my age she used neutrogena T-gel and it helped her but im wondering if my problem is more sever, i really don’t want to go to a doctor, but what steps should i take before something happens and it is too late?

I can say the itching started 4 years ago when i stopped using pantene and started experimenting with other shampoos bc my hair dresser at the time said “you cant use white ppl’s products!”

…and a year ago i started using creme of nature and it stopped my itching completely, but the problem is its very hard to find where i live.

You could be allergic to one of the products you used on your hair. Don’t listen to your stylist. I use Pantene for relaxed hair which is geared towards people of color and it works fine. You should go to a dermatologist. You could have psoriasis or something else. They will probably prescribe Clobex to you. That usually wipes it out. Definitely check with them first.

i bought a strightener there, and it works amazing. i’ve never seen it in the stores before, except sallys. it was only 40 bucks, and it’s takes like ten minutes to strighten my hair, it’s 420 degrees!.

i’ve also bought shampoos and nail polish there, and they are amazing!.

but yes, i think it’s professional products, i know they work good!.

i am African American. but i dont seem to have African American hair. i have tried all types of “black products” but they dont seem to work for me. my friends cant help me either.

i have natural hair. i dont use perms or relaxers and i have very curly hair. i have sworn off heat and i need control of my curly hair. its not frizzy or unmanageable, i just want some definition to it. these are the problems i am facing
1) i would like my hair to lay down a bit more, do you know of any products that helps manage curly hair
2) do you know of any great deep conditioners (i dont want to use any home remedies or any kind i would have to make, i know about the mayo, egg yolks, and olive oil for hair, but i rather buy some myself)
3)my hair is almost mid-back length when straight, but when my hair is curly, it barely reaches my shoulders. do you have any advice on how to lengthen my curls or how to keep them from shriveling up?

i know all bout taking care of my hair and having it healthy, so i dont need any tips for that. but if anyone can help me in anyway i would greatly appreciate it :)

Fist off not all black people have the same hair type

Secondly “black hair products” most of them are rubbish and do not work for anybody’s hair especially afro textured

I got this tip years ago and am so glad. put a little baking soda in your shampoo when you have buildup and it will take care of it. it will dry out your hair a little because it’s removing all the stuff. but it definitely works. just use a really moistening conditioner afterward.
i have very coarse and thick and curly hair. so i feel your pain. i have to use alot of products.
