Girls start at 6 months in some cases. By 4, they are dying their hair, getting spray tans, wearing makeup, false eyelashes and even false teeth (called flippers). It’s that promoting vanity to an extreme level? If you go to a contest, you’ll find half the 6 year olds talking about breasts and the other half talking about money. I know it’s to promote friendly competetition and there’s nothing wrong with that. But judging little kids based on beauty given to them by lipstick and eyeliner is wrong. If they wanted to do it based on talent and such, that’s fine and fun. But they’re making an entire generation of kids delusional. Should they ban uses of beauty aids at pageants for little girls considering it’s not the child’s natural beauty? What are your views?
Jason, What does it teach them other than how to put on lipstick and false eyeshots? They base nothing on intelligence at all in those pagaents.
Um I’ve been to this contests all over the states and my cousin and aunt are coaches for them and what I listed is the minimum of what these girls do. The shoots they do-they photoshop them so much that the girls don’t even look like that in real life. Modeling is very different from the contests. Also she doesn’t have little girls and moms who indulge in everything they do. Just because a kid likes it, doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. Kids like candy and if they could eat 100 pounds of it, they’d be happy but it wouldn’t be the best thing for them.
They ALWAYS wear makeup. Maybe not at little school functions because they don’t matter. At professional contests, they look like they’re trying to emulate Tammy Fae Baker and Dolly Partin.
